O'Death - Head Home

Taylor (the other person who posts on here) and I went to see Murder By Death in May (I think?) of this year, and this band opened. After the show I bought this. It's technically their second LP, but it's the first one available. I've been told to classify them as "junkyard orchestra," which is logical, I guess. Also heard they're similar sounding to Man Man, but I've never listened to Man Man, so...up to you to figure that out. I would definitely definitely push you to go see them live if at all possible.

Alan Madej - 11 Love Songs

If you like The Beatles, Marc Bolan, early David Bowie, or are interested in a really solid local guy from our backyard, give this a listen; 11 Love Songs was the first Alan Madej record I heard and I therefore think it's a good place to start.
Madej is a 28-year old indie musician from Cleveland, Ohio. Lazily commanding a guitar, piano, and an folky vocal track, Madej delivers an intimate but universal album. 11 Love Songs is a collection of feel-good strummy pop the way it should be done. Don't resist the urge to giggle or hold hands.

If you like 11 Love Songs, please support Alan Madej by purchasing the album. (If the music wasn't enough fun, the albums themselves are as cute as anything--each cd is hand-signed by Madej and the packaging hand-assembled.) www.myspace.com/alanmadej

My personal favorites from 11 Love Songs include tracks 3, 7, 8, and 11.

Enjoy.

Junior Kimbrough - You Better Run

Blues from Northern Mississippi. This is a collection of songs, released in 2002 after Junior Kimbrough's death (in 1998). I have an admittedly incomplete knowledge of the blues as a genre, so it may be due to ignorance that I think his music is some of the best blues around, but it's still worth hearing for anyone, in my opinion. (Wait for track 3, it is easily the best.)
